Camping on Kenai Lake
One of the most scenic locations on the Kenai Peninsula, Kenai Lake offers many options for camping via commercial RV parks, Federal and State Parks, and some great boat remote in camping options as well.
State & Federal Campgrounds on Kenai Lake
- Quartz Creek Campground; USFS: Located on the lower end of Kenai Lake, An RV dump station is available at the Quartz Creek Campground. From Anchorage, drive 100 miles south along the Seward Highway through Turnagain Pass and exit on the Sterling Highway. Take the Sterling Highway to Quartz Creek Rd. located just before before Kenai Lake by the Sunrise Restaurant and Lodge. Take Quartz Creek Rd. 1 mile to the campground entrance. The current fee ranges from $18.00 to $28.00 per night.
- Trail River Campground; USFS: Located on the middle section of Kenai Lake, Turn off the Seward Highway at Milepost 24.2 onto Trail River Road and continue on for 2 miles across the bridge to the campground entrance. There are a total of 78 sites both pull thru and back in available. The current fee is $18.00 a night.
- Primrose Campground; USFS: Located on the upper end of Kenai Lake close to the Primrose Trailhead and is adjacent to Kenai Lake. Primrose Campground is a primitive camping site with limited amenities. 10 campsites Water, toilets, tables, fire pits, dumpsters, and a boat launch are available. No reservations are taken for the Primrose Campground. There is a user pay station at the entrance to the campground. The current fee is $10.00 a night.
